Thousands of Veterans seek treatment for mental health issues each year but many others don’t reach out for help. It takes courage to overcome the old perceptions about mental health services and seek out a professional. The Washington DC VA Medical Center has an outreach team that actively seeks to engage Veterans about VA health services. That’s why the VA Medical Center will be at the National’s game hosting an information table on Friday evening, July 20. Why a baseball game? Well, the Nats are doing great this year and attendance is up. Thousands of people are expected to attend what promises to be a highly competitive game between the Nationals and the Atlanta Braves. Many people have family members and friends who are Veterans. When Veterans are encouraged by those closest to them to get help, they’re often willing to do so. So, come out to the ballgame on Friday night and show your support for Veterans struggling with mental health issues. Visit the table and pick up information for Veterans you know. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. Swing by and say hi to the DC VA Medical Center’s Mental Health team.
