Surviving In A Less Than Desirable Work Environment

While some workplace stress is normal, excessive stress can interfere with your productivity and impact your physical and emotional health. Some factors that may have an impact are:

Difficult Employer/Coworkers
Workload/Project Deadlines
Not Feeling Valued For The Work That You Do

Some steps to reduce the stress you find in the workplace include but are not limited to:

Taking responsibility for improving your physical and emotional well-being.
Avoiding pitfalls by identifying knee jerk reactions and less than positive attitudes that add to your stress.
Learning better communication skills to improve your relationships with management and coworkers.

Some proven time management tips are:

Create a balanced schedule. Analyze your schedule, responsibilities, and daily tasks.
Don’t over-commit. Avoid scheduling things back-to-back or trying to fit too much into your daily schedule.
Try leaving earlier in the morning. Even 10-15 minutes can make the difference.
Plan regular breaks. Take short breaks throughout the day to clear your mind. Make every effort to get away from your desk during lunch.

Some confirmed task management tips are:

Prioritize tasks. Make a list of tasks you have to do, and tackle them in order of importance. If you have something particularly unpleasant to do, get it over with early. The rest of your day will be more pleasant as a result.
Break projects into small steps. If a large project seems overwhelming, make a step-by-step plan. Focus on one manageable step at a time, rather than taking on everything at once.
Delegate responsibility. You don’t have to do it all yourself. If other people can take care of the task, let them.
