It's that time of year again when so many of us are packing up and moving - and in the process "shedding the things" that we don't need or want. I hope that all of you think about donating your "extras" to one of the base thrift stores in the area - Bolling, Andrews, Quantico, Belvoir, Ft. Myers and I'm sure there are a few more that I may have missed. And if you don't want to shed, come buy or volunteer. Did you know that last year the Bolling Thrift Shop run by the AFWOC was able to raise $29,000 through shop sales??? I've been busy there myself in the buying mode. This week I found "bag day" - why not be a "bag lady." For $5 I was able to get some so, so, so sweet kids clothes to send to a good friend of mine. Besides that I stuffed 2 Banana Republic and one Ralph Lauren men's shirts in! Some other great "pick-ups" were a 3 piece BBQ utensil set for $3, a set of 6 funky looking bright colored glasses (NIB) for $4. They post their sales on Facebook so if you "LIKE" them you'll get a reminder of the happenings. Here's the link:
I love going to Ft. Myers too where there are 2 shops - one thrift and one more "boutiquey." This is the place that I got the Magimixer for $20 - I am over the top about that : )
I purchased at Brand New Ralph Lauren shirt for $1 today at the AFOWC thrift shop on Bolling today. I also saw some Jimmy Choo shoes come in today as well. Too bad they weren't my size.
