Everyone loves a bargain and a military discount and I have even found a thrift shop that offers a 25% military discount everyday - Georgia Avenue Thrift Shop located at 6101 Georgia Ave NW, Washington, DC. This shop has been a favorite of mine for some time - it has a little bit of everything and for the "vintage picker" this is a great place - remember tho' it's always hit or miss.

For those that live in Maryland, there are a few good second hand shops. Why not spend Wed morning in Bethesda starting at the Montgomery Farm Womens Coop? There are fresh flowers, meats, sweets, veggies and fruit and outside there is a flea market - mostly new items but fun nonetheless. Location 7155 Wisconsin Ave. Bethesda, MD. Call ahead to be sure of the times as its open on Saturdays as well 301-652-2291. From there stop at the Montgomery County Thrift Shop located at 7125 Wisconsin Ave, the Mustard Seed (mix of old and funky new) 7349 Wisconsin Ave or the Opportunity Shop 4504 Walsh Street (antique dealers love to scour this one) These are all within a few walking blocks of one another.

One of my all time favorite thrift shops is Value Village - super sized, nearly the size of a supermarket. There are a few in the area. My favorite one is at 2277 University Blvd East. There are others tho' - have a look here!

I am going on a vacation...back to the place of one of mine and my husband's favorite assignments - South Africa. I am so excited to see all my old friends, eat some fantastic food (a culinary delight!!), enjoy the SA wine and of course, do a little shopping!
