Re: There was a time...

...transitions and adaptations are such a huge part of our military lifestyle. I remember back to having 6 years in, and 3 moves already under our belts. Now we seem to have become permanently 'posted' to the DC area, thanks to another transition - retirement. So as another of your site bloggers, I hope to share insights into successfully making the move to 'civilian' life and see how others of you handled the life change. Let's get a dialogue started...!

There was a time...

...when my active duty wife and I would marvel at the impossibly impressive list of places other military families have been stationed. How was it possible, I wondered, that these wonderful folks could compile three or four lifetimes of exotic travel, living arrangements and ineffibly great experiences in under 20 years? Well, though I do not have as impressive a pedigree in military life as many, many others (we're at 6 years...I'm a relative infant in some circles), I have had enough…

Home improvement blues

I am on day three of a home repair project - unable to leave the house. For thirty-plus years, home repair was a simple call to DPW. It's a lot different now that we have our own home. Learning to navigate through different vendors and repairmen has been interesting. How have you out there managed?
