If you'll read my latest blog post, you'll see that I'd like to start a forum discussion on how local military families made their school choices when moving to the area. Maybe we can provide some assistance to newcomers during this PCS season.
Most military communities have School Liaison Officers to aid families - these individuals can be a one-stop shop for school information. It's a little more difficult for our area with such a widespread area to live in. For myself, school and school district websites were very helpful, but visiting the schools gave the best impression. Personally, we place school size before test scores, hoping that our 'new' kids wouldn't get lost in a crowd. That priority paid off for us, but every family is different. What were your criteria?
